Shoes
SHOE HEELS SHOULD BE AS “HIGH” AS YOU CAN WALK IN SAFELY AND CONFIDENTLY!!!
NO FLAT SOLES OR CHUNKY HEELS.
Break in new shoes. You can scuff up the bottoms on concrete. Some contestants use “non-slip pads” on the bottom of their shoes. They are available at most shoe stores and your local drugstore.
Practice walking up and down steps wearing your competition gown and shoes and competition swimsuit and shoes. You can wear the same shoe for swimsuit and evening gown if you wish.
The best advice is…..Practice, Practice, Practice.
Keep the style simple, too many straps, especially up the leg can be distracting.
HELPFUL HINTS
Blisters – “Moleskin” can be used to prevent blisters. Cut and place strips of it on your heels and any place your shoe rubs BEFORE you get a blister. If you get a blister you should cover it with a band aid and place the moleskin on the band aid. Never apply the moleskin directly to a blister. The moleskin will hold the band aid in place. It is sold at most local drugstores.
Acrylic clear heels are easier to put on your foot if you warm them up with your blow dryer just prior to putting them on.
If your heel strap keeps falling down…. apply your roll-on swimsuit adhesive to your heel.
