Opening Number
OPENING NUMBER – For Contestant Introduction Only…NOT A JUDGING CATEGORY
At the beginning of the pageant each contestant will be introduced to the audience during an upbeat, choreographed introduction musical number. The contestants will not sing and the choreographed moves are very easy…You do not need to be a dancer!!! The music to be used for the opening number routine is not available to contestants before the pageant. The opening number is a series of groups of contestants walking fast and posing. You will sometimes raise your arms but there is no complicated dance to be learned.
THE COCKTAIL DRESS MUST BE BRIGHT RED. (NOT MAROON, WINE OR CRIMSON)
The dress cannot have any different colored trim or print. Keep in mind when choosing your dress and accessories that you will be raising your arms and walking fast.
ACCESSORIES
Earrings, bracelets, etc. should be a silver color or rhinestones set in a silver color mounting. SHOES: Clear High Heels or the color of your skin. See Shoe section for Shoe Examples.
MOST CREATIVE MASK AWARD
Each contestant should create a mask attached to a stick to be carried during the Introduction Number. The mask should be representative of the STATE OF ALABAMA. There will be an award given for the most creative mask.
NO GLITTER ON THE MASK OR ANY SUBSTANCE THAT WILL FALL ON THE FLOOR!!!! (Think Safety)
